The honest pitch

Why Families From St. Joseph Make the Drive

St. Joseph has pumpkins closer than us. We know. Here is what you get for the extra half hour: a corn maze big enough to get properly lost in, a hayrack ride out to a patch where the pumpkins are still on the vine, sixteen play zones your kids will not have run out of by the time you are ready to leave, and a Cider Barn with wine and hard cider for whoever is not driving.

One ticket covers all of it. No tokens, no wristbands, no upsell at every corner.

Mid-September through October

Pumpkins Off the Vine, Not Off a Pallet

The hayrack runs out to the patch on weekends. Walk the rows, pick what you want, carry it back. Carving pumpkins, pie pumpkins, gourds and the odd specialty variety, priced by weight after you pick.

Pair it with the two-acre corn maze next door while the zinnias are still going, and catch the candy cannon at 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Eleven varieties

Apple Picking Near St. Joseph

Apples run mid-August through October 31 across 17,000 trees, so every pumpkin weekend is also an apple weekend. Jonathan, Fuji, Pink Lady, Evercrisp and seven more, ripening in waves through the fall.

The bakery fries apple cider donuts from cider pressed off these same trees. Get a half dozen and eat the first one in the parking lot like everybody does.
